Dominican Blowouts Manchester

Many in the UK confuse the Dominican Blowout with a silk press — but they are not the same. A Dominican Blowout is a traditional hair-stretching technique, originally developed in the Dominican Republic, known for using minimal heat and a focus on hair health, not just appearance.

Unlike silk presses that often involve high heat straighteners, the Dominican method starts with the right wash, deep conditioning, in direct defused heat and low-heat blow-drying to achieve movement, softness, and bounce — without compromising the integrity of your hair.

What Makes This Technique Healthier?

Dominican blowouts focus on:

  • Hair analysis at the bowl: Each treatment starts with identifying if the hair needs moisture, protein, repair, or new technology treatments like bond-building.

  • Deep conditioning focus: Rollersetting or hood drying ensures that treatments actually penetrate — no rushing.

  • Low manipulation: Once dried, the hair is stretched in a way that can last weeks with the right wrap technique, meaning less daily stress on the strands.

This technique is ideal for:

  • Curly, coily, or kinky textures, as well as wavy and straight hair.

  • Clients transitioning from relaxed to natural

  • Anyone wanting a heat-safe blowout without flattening or damaging their curl/wave pattern.

Why I Use the Dominican Method

I learned the technique from watching experienced Jamaican stylists and refining it on my own hair, then practicing on family and friends. My approach is rooted in protecting your natural texture while giving you a versatile style that moves. I pair it with years of product knowledge and tailor the treatment to your specific needs.

This isn't a one-size-fits-all blow dry — it's a restorative treatment experience.
