Most extension hair even premium extension hair is sourced, processed and manufactured for straight and wavy hair types. The curl patterns available off the shelf are limited, inconsistent and rarely match the complexity of natural curl. A 3C curl pattern varies enormously from person to person. A 4A coil is completely different to a 4B. No two heads of curly hair are the same, yet the industry has been selling one-size-fits-all solutions and expecting curly women to be grateful.

Even when the hair quality is good, the application method matters enormously for curly hair. Straight K-tips, tape-ins and wefts were designed and refined for straight and wavy hair. They don't account for the way curly hair moves, shrinks, expands with humidity or sits against the scalp. The result is extensions that look and feel like a separate piece sitting on top of your hair rather than growing from it.

Most extension technicians, even highly skilled ones have been trained on straight and wavy hair. Curly hair requires a completely different understanding of density, curl mapping, scalp anatomy and bond placement. Without that specific knowledge even the best hair and the best method will produce a result that doesn't look or feel natural.
